The people
Galicia has been pretty much isolated and that is what makes its inhabitants somewhat distinct to the rest of Spain.
Galicia has a population of 3 million people, widely spread throughout the region.
Although mostly concentrated on the coast, there are thousands of dwellings and small holdings all over the interior and many have preserved a certain ancient charm.
Galicia has been invaded by the Celts, Romans, Visigoths, Normans, the French and even the Moors.
But it is the Celtic influence which is most prominent in Galicia and the locals demonstrate that through their celebrations, clothing, music etc. (bagpipes are the traditional instrument!).
So it is no surprise to discover that Galicia is a mythical place too, full of ancient legends of werewolves, witches and goblins.
Even fortune telling is still widely spread.
Especially in the countryside, people are still living off the land and hard-working, living simple and healthy lives and never missing out on an opportunity to get together for a celebration.
